I bought this unit for $399+tax during an extremely hot day. The unit uses about 1050-1200watts, so it is not that efficient in my opinion. A major problem that some people will have is that the exhaust window panel included with the unit is only for windows larger than 22-inches (I did not know that, as my window is smaller than 22-inches (sliding). The unit is not that quiet - it is like having a powerful-fan on. Although the air coming from the unit is somewhat cool, it is not acceptable (feels the same as if you wet yourself and turn on the fan), I think that Sharp may have been really cheap and not filled the unit with enough refrigerant. I tested the unit in a small room (less than 200 square feet); the room's ambient temperature was 92-degrees Fahrenheit. I turned on the unit and left it on for an hour, I came back to the room and the temperature had only dropped 1-degree - ridiculous if you ask me, as there is no heat source other than the duct that connects to the AC-unit, which gets really hot - defeats the purpose. The same room is cooled within a few minutes with central-air. I have been duped! This unit is going back.
